Trust me it was lot of fun. I don’t believe I saw and ate so many things in one day.
Visit to Dagdusheth Ganpati, Shree Uphar Gruha Puneri Misal, Laxmi Road, Camp Road Mar-zo-rin Bakery and Kayani Bakery was so much fun and educative

Shree Upahar Gruha

Pune is famous for its Misal Pav. The word ‘Misal’ means ‘Mixture’ and Pav is bread. Misal is quite spicy and its fiery taste is a treat to your taste buds. There are various joints in Pune serving Misal Pav.

Shree Upahar Gruha in Pune is one of the famous joints, it’s very close to Shanipar bus stand. Very old place for misal pav and Taak. It has been recently renovated but the taste remain same. Which is a relief :)Hidden in the lanes of Tulsi baug , it can be easily missed in the busy street.. Worth trying though. I love the seating where the servers come and serve you hot misal and other items.

They have limited menu. It’s not much spicy. They serve misal with bread slice. Misal is topped with shev-chiwda, batata bhaji, kandapohe and chopped onion. The ingredients of Misal are sprouts (Matki or moong sprouts), Peas Sprouts, Chilli, Jaggery, Tamarind water and Farsan (Mixture) is added as a topping. In some of the joints even poha is used as an ingredient.

They serve not only Misal Pav but also other Maharashtrian Breakfast items which include vadapav, sabudana vada, etc. Their buttermilk known as Taak in Marathi is too good.

This place is always crowded so you might have to wait for a bit. But trust me it’s worth the wait

Marzorin is an old and reasonably priced bakery where you can sit on the first floor at old Irani tables and watch Main Street go by. It is a small eatery with really cute seating… I just love the whole feeling of seating on those small tables facing towards road and that typical old British architecture… Nothing fancy at all… All so simple and that’s exactly what makes a perfect place to sit down with friends to talk while sipping over cold coffee and biting those sandwich

This is another must visit place in Pune and it’s a really ancient food place. Known for the chutney sandwich and cold coffee. I love the food here and they also have some tasty baked macroni to try.

This place is so popular that it serves as a meeting landmark for more people than those eating here when at M.G. Road.

Kayani Bakery

The well known Kayani Bakery is A Raj-era institution that seems to be stuck in a time warp, where those in the know queue (in the loose sense of the word) for Shrewsbury biscuits (₹240 per kg), bread and Madeira cake.

Kayani bakery is an old bakery, famous for its mawa cake. It is not only famous for mawa cakes but a whole variety of items like shewsberry biscuits, wine biscuit, plum cakes and many more. The taste and quality is intact for years.

This is the best place to be if you like cakes and biscuits. It’s one of the legendary places which you should not miss out of you are in Pune. It’s on the busy mg road on the left side of the road and can be easily missed as the place is always full and busy. I have seldom seen there items getting some time in the shelf before they are sold out. Shrewsbury biscuit and hazel nut cookies are one of the favorites. Go check it out if thou still haven’t.

You cannot miss the enticing aroma of fresh baking when you pass the East Street. Situated in the heart of the city, this tiny, ancient bakery will take you to an older Pune. But don’t let this fool you. It is one the best things that happened to Pune. And it will be one of the best things that will happen to you.

Their Shrewsberry biscuits, plain cake and chocolate cake are to die for! You will never eat anything comparable. You haven’t truly experienced Pune unless you try these. And make sure, you go here in the morning. The fresher, the better! 🙂
