Heart Inside A Cake Recipe: Valentine’s Special
Heart Inside a cake is an interesting cake recipe with a surprise within. Simple but unique recipe which can get a smile on your valentine’s face. I made this on Valentine’s day pretty late but was surely worth it. My hubby gave me an amazing surprise by getting me breakfast in bed with some nice flowers. But the best gift was the Kitchen Aid. What else can a food blogger ask for : )
After so much of pampering I thought i need to do something special for him. So i decided to make this cute loaf cake. I didn’t have much time to make it from scratch so made it with Betty crocker’s cake mix and it turned out just great 🙂
2 Betty Crocker Vanilla Cake mix
Red color gel
Heart shape cutter
Preheat oven to the temperature specified for the vanilla cake.
Assemble the vanilla pound cake per the recipe or mix directions.
To make the heart, add red coloring to the mix.
Pour batter into a prepared loaf pan. Bake as instructed in recipe or mix directions. Remove, cool and remove from the pan. Allow to cool completely.
Reheat oven to specified temperature for our next cake batch
Place red color cake on a cutting board. Using the depth of the heart cookie cutter as a guide, cut the cake into slices the same thickness as the cookie cutter
Butter a loaf pan the same size or larger than the pan used for the red cake. Place cake hearts in the middle of the prepared pan; point down, back-to-back touching each other.
Prepare the vanilla cake recipe or mix according to the directions.
Pour the cake batter over the hearts and make sure that they are completely covered.
Bake the Vanilla cake as instructed.
Remove from oven; allow to cool for 15-20 minutes in the pan on a cooling rack. Remove from pan and cool completely before slicing.
