Eggless & Butterless Orange Sponge Cake Recipe
Yes this orange sponge cake is eggless, butterless and totally flawless. This recipe was posted by my friend Renuka on my Facebook Group Crave Cook Click. When i read the recipe it was too good to be true. All the ingredients required for this recipe were present in my pantry and I decided to give it a try. The final product came out to be super good, soft and delicious orange flavored sponge cake which was ready to be savored in just 30 minutes 🙂
Trust me I can call it as one of my best cakes i have made so far. Ritesh and My In Laws loved it too.
Here is Renuka’s recipe..
Ingredients for a 6 inch cake.
1/2 cup thick yoghurt
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup orange juice
1/3 cup oil
1 tbsp.(one big orange zest)
1 1/2 cup all purpose flour/maida
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp baking powder
Preheat the oven at 350 F
Mix yoghurt with sugar, till it dissolves.
Add orange juice and oil.
Add 1 tbsp.(one big orange zest)zest to this.
Mix flour with baking powder and baking soda.
Add this mixture to wet mixture and pour and bake in preheated oven for 40 min.
If you want to make a fluffier version then add one egg while beating the wet ingredients.
To make it in Pressure Cooker:
Take a pressure cooker. Add 2 cups of salt to the cooker.Remove the whistle of the lid. Close the lid of the cooker and preheat for 15 minutes on high flame
Apply oil to the baking tin or steel cooker tin. Add 1 tbsp of all purpose flour and dust it well in the tin.
After the cooker is preheated place a small steel plate on top of the salt in the cooker. Keep the baking tin on top it. Bake on slow flame for 35 mins. Check after 35 minutes if the cake is baked properly by inserting a tooth pick.
