Dadar Sabji Mandi
Dadar is a neighborhood in Mumbai, and is also a railway station on both the Western (Dadar) and Central lines (Dadar T.T.) of the Mumbai Suburban Railway network. Dadar is situated in the heart of Mumbai, and Dadar station is the only railway station common to both the Central and Western lines. This makes the station a transit point for thousands of passengers using the Mumbai Suburban Railway and one of the most crowded railway stations on the network.
Dadar has long been a cultural center, not only for Maharashtrians and the Marathi speaking population, but for the entire Indian diaspora.
Dadar vegetable market is in the heart of the city and is responsible for distributing vegetables across all of Mumbai. It is said that one can get all possible things in Dadar.
During my recent trip to India I visited the Dadar Vegetable Market a.k.a Dadar Sabzi Mandi and had a great time. Here are some pics from the visit.
Hi Anita
These are superb pictures taken by you- precious and priceless. After may be 2 decades, these markets may be extinct … love the colors, the variety, the unique vegetables and human expressions all reflected in your photography. Its such a common and day-to-day view for most of the Mumbaikars, that no-one sees from this angle that you have put forth. In future, they will be cherish these pics am sure 🙂
