Mohanthal Recipe & Chaitra Haldi Kumkum
Mohanthal is a traditional Gujarati & Rajasthani delicacy made on auspicious occasions. The main ingredients in Mohanthal are ghee, sugar and chickpea flour. It is like a sweet besan fudge garnished with chopped nuts.
My mother in law is here and she is making all these authentic gujarati delicacies. I am getting a chance to learn as well as taste them 🙂
So here is the recipe

chopped almonds (badam) and pistachios for garnishing
Combine milk and besan well ,mix well and keep aside for 30 minutes.
Heat ghee in a pan, add the besan and saute for 12 minutes.
Add the condensed milk and cook with while stirring continuously for 15 minutes or till the mixture thickens.
Add the saffron, mix well and remove from the flame and pour the mixture into a greased plate and garnish with almonds.

Also another reason to make this recipe was to celebrate the month of Chaitra.Chitra is the first month of a Marathi calendar. In this month Gaur is worshipped and Chaitra Haldi Kumkum is celebrated by inviting women and treating them with good food and gifts 🙂
My friend Rupali decorated the place with flowers and fruits had beautiful rangolis where the Goddess was placed.
Another friend of mine Aruna invited us for Haldi Kumkum and here are some pics
