Methi Puri Recipe-Diwali Delight
Methi puri is a crispy deep fried Indian bread or poori, which is prepared from plain flour and kasuri methi (dried methi leaves).It is a savory snack and is prepared during Diwali or consumed as an evening snack. You can serve them with tea as a snack. It can also be enjoyed with flavored or plain yogurt.
1 cup all-purpose flour
½ cup semolina
1 tbsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp carom seeds
1 tbsp red chilli powder
½ tbsp turmeric powder
2 tbsp kasoori methi
salt as per taste
¼ cup warm oil
1 ½ cup water
Oil for fry.
Method
Mix all the dry ingredients in a bowl.
Add water and knead the flour into dough.
Add oil and knead the flour again. Let it rest for 30 mins.
Take out a part of the dough, dust in flour and roll it in a roti.
Cut out small puris with cookie cutter or circular lid of the container.
Deep fry 3-4 puris at a time on medium heat until light brown and crispy.
Fry remaining methi puris and store them in airtight container. You can store them for 15-20 days.
Tips and Variations
Knead hard dough to make them crispier.
Do not deep fry them on high flame.
