Dal Vada Recipe/How to make Dal Vada

Ingredients

1 cup chana dal or toor dal

1 inch ginger

3 dried red chillies

12 shallots chopped

1 spring of curry leaves

1 tsp fennel seeds

2-3 green chillies

1 pinch asafetida

Salt to taste

Oil for frying

Method

Soak chana dal in water for 2 hours. Drain the water completely.

Crush the soaked and drained dal. Grind it. Make sure you don’t add water to it. Keep it coarse it texture.

Add all ingredients except oil to the crushed. Grind it once more.

Add some whole soaked chana dal grains to it.

Heat oil for deep frying pan on high flame.

When oil is really hot, reduce the flame to low-medium and add the vada.

Before adding to the oil, just flatten each ball in your palm. Keep the size small so that they get fried well.

Fry till the vadas become golden brown. Serve it hot with tea.
