Corn Chivda Recipe-Diwali Special
Corn Chivda is a snack prepared during Diwali festival at my place. It is made by mixing cornflakes with variety of nuts and spices. It is crunchy and a great evening snack. It’s favorite among Maharashtrians and Gujaratis and is also known as ‘Makyacha Chivda’.
Ingredients
8 cups unsweetened cornflakes
¼ the cup raisins
For frying
1/4th cup cashewnuts
1/4th cup chana dal
1/4th cup groundnuts
1/4th cup fry coconut slices
6-7 chillies chopped
6-7 curry leaves
oil for frying
For tempering
½ cup oil
2 tbsp cumin seeds
2 tbsp mustard seeds
2 tbsp cumin powder
2 tbsp coriander powder
2 tbsp fennel seeds powder
1 tbsp fennel seeds
2 tbsp turmeric powder
½ tbsp asafetida powder
1 tbsp amchur powder
2 tbsp salt
2 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp sesame seeds
2 tbsp chilli powder
Method
Heat oil in a deep pan and fry all the ingredients listed below fried items one by one. Keep it aside.
Take another pan. Heat oil and start tempering. Add all the tempering ingredients and mix the fried ingredients in it.
Finally add the cornflakes and raisins and mix everything well.
Cool the chivda and store it in an air tight container.
