Bhindi Masala Recipe
I was not a big Bhindi fan until I found a way to cook it crispy and delicious. Bhindi masala is a spicy, crunchy and tangy recipe…makes my mouth water as I describe!
1 bowl serving contains around 200 calories.Bhindi is also known as okra and lady finger. The name okra is most often used in the United States, with a variant pronunciation. Okra is a popular health food due to its high fiber, vitamin C, and folate content. Okra is also known for being high in antioxidants and is also often eaten as part of a weight loss diet since it is both fat-free and cholesterol-free. Okra is also a good source of calcium and potassium.
Bhindi Masala /Okra Masala Recipe
Ingredients
1 lb. Bhindi/okra/lady finger
1 big onion finely chopped
4-5 garlic pods crushed
3 curry leaves
pinch of asafetida
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp amchur powder
1 tsp lime juice
3 tbsp oil
Salt as per taste
Method
Wash the bhindi and pat it dry before chopping. Dry it with clean cloth or with paper towel. If there is any moisture left, then it will make the okra sticky while cooking.Chop the Bhindi and keep it aside
Heat oil in the wide pan
Add cumin and mustard seeds. Add curry leaves and asafetida.
Now add crushed garlic pods. This will impart garlic flavor to the oil. Stir it for a minute.
Add chopped Bhindi. Let it fry for 15 mints. Stir in intervals. Do not cover the pan as it can make the Bhindi mushy. Let it fry till it looks crispy and brown.
Now add chopped onions.
Once the onions are translucent add the cumin powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, amchur powder and garam masala powder.
Add salt, lime juice and mix everything well.Serve it hot with steam rice or rotis.

Try watermarking your pics. I know it reduces the effect of the images on the blog and causes unnecessary interferences, but a little nuisance now will save them from being copied. There is no guarantee that jerks find a way to rewove copy mark, but make it difficult for them than copy and paste. Lovely space you havee her and Love your blog.
Love Ash.
Hi,
Thank u so much for your appreciation…i will surely implement your suggestion:)
Hi Anu,
I tried this recipe today!! its yumm!!!
I just made this and it was delicious! I previously tried another bhindi recipe from another site that had tomatoes and I have to say I prefer this version since I thought the tomatoes made it too dry and sour. And it’s an easy recipe to remember since most ingredients are 1 tsp. Do you think this recipe would work with karela?
Hi Andrea, Thank you so much for trying the recipe.
Yes this would work with karela. But make sure to add some tamarind paste and jaggery in order to cut the bitterness of the karela
