Sevai Kheer Recipe

Vermicelli cooked in milk and dry fruits. Made in every household on the occasion of Eid.


Eid al-Fitr literally means ‘The Festival of Breaking the Fast’.  It is also known as the ‘The Sugar Feast’ or ‘The Sweet Festival’. It marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting.  For the first time in several years Eid-ul-Fitr has fallen on a Friday adding more value to this auspicious day.


No celebration is complete without some good eats. Create a sumptuous spread with lots of  joy, pomp, love and a few festive flavors.

Ingredients sevai kheer recipe


2 Tbsp butter


100 gms sevai/ Vermicelli


25 gms cashew nuts


25 gms pistachios


25 gms raisins


600 ml milk-2 ½  cups


3 Tbsp sugar (or to taste)


5 green cardamom cloves


Saffron, a pinch




In a pan, fry butter and sewai together.

In a different pan, boil milk, sugar and smashed green cardamoms.

Add the fried sewai, pista and raisins mix into the milk pan. Combine ingredients together and add saffron.

Add a little extra milk to loosen the dish, towards the end.


Serve hot.
