I am Anita. Food Blogger & Photographer by Passion and Business Analyst by Profession π Currently based in California but born and brought up in Mumbai, India. I moved to California in 2011 and since then my life has been a roller coaster ride. Every day I learn something new. It can be about US culture, Information Technology or Photography!
After coming here I developed my two passions..Cooking and Photography. Before marriage I never felt the need to cook or infact didnβt even try to learn cooking. I was pampered a lot at home by mom and sister-in-law. Every day they asked me what I want to eat and I used to get it readymade:)
Marriage took away this luxury. Though Ritesh, my husband never forced me to cook but I was tired of eating the Indian Food in restaurants which never pleased my taste buds. I was left with no option but to learn cooking. Thanks to Tarla Dalal & Sanjeev Kapoor cooking websites who were my savior in this whole trial, errors and learning process.
Today I can cook a decent meal which is healthy, nutritious and most important TASTY:) I love to invite friends over for dinner. They always asked me the recipes for the dishes which I served which was an inspiration for me to write a food blog:)
Photography was my first passion which I later incorporated with clicking my recipe pictures. I realized that good food photography can fulfill your appetite visually! As we all know βA picture is worth a thousand wordsβ I have focused a lot on food captures on this blog. A pictorial presentation is the most appealing. Apart from food photography I love clicking portraits and landscapes. You can visit Anita MokashiPhotography to view some of my captures.
Writing this blog has enhanced my knowledge about food history, food photography and food nutrition facts which I have shared in my recipes. Most of the recipes on this blog are Indian but I try to share recipes from other cuisines too.
A special thanks to My Mom who has been the best cook for me and whom I bug now and then to ask about traditional Maharashtrian recipes. My dad always taught me that serving food to someone is a good deed and thus I canβt thank him enough for this lesson! Oh..and obviously how can I forget to thank my dear soul mate, Ritesh who was guinea pig for all my experiments in the kitchen. He gave me all sorts of appreciation and criticism which improved my culinary skills!
