Marinated Prawns in coconut milk gravy sautéed with onions, tomatoes and other Indian spices. I love seafood especially if it has coconut flavor. This curry tastes best when had with hot steamed rice.
For Marinating Prawns1 pound prawns1 tbsp ginger garlic paste1 tsp coriander powder1 tsp garam masala powder1 tsp red chilli powder1 tsp turmeric powder1 tsp pepper powderSalt as per taste
For Gravy2 medium onion sliced1 medium chopped1 tsp ginger garlic paste1 tsp coriander powder1 tsp garam masala powder1 tsp pepper powder1 tsp red chilli powder1 tsp turmeric powder½ cup thick coconut milk2 green chillies slit2 springs of curry leaves1 tbsp tamarind paste1 tsp mustard seeds1 tsp fenugreek seeds1 tbsp coconut oil
MethodMarinate the prawn with the above ingredients and keep it in the fridge for an hour.Heat coconut oil in a pan,when its hot,add mustard seeds,fenugreek seeds, when it starts splutters.Add the sliced onions sauté till the onions become translucent.Add slited green chillies and curry leaves and stir for mins.Add ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder,corainder powder, gram masala powder, pepper powders and stir till the aroma comes out.Add the chopped tomato pieces along with little salt and sautee well till the tomatoes are mashed.Add the coconut milk; tamarind paste and mix wellAdd the marinated prawns to the kadai and cook covered till prawns are doneServe with steamed rice.
